FIRST TIME FLYING ALONE TO ISTANBUL AIRPORT – STEP BY STEP ARRIVAL GUIDE

Welcome to Istanbul Airport. We all know how stressful it can be to travel alone by plane for the first time. Especially for your loved ones who are seeing you off or waiting for you.
We will prepare a separate guide on how to manage your flight stress on a flight. But in this guide, you will find help that will accompany you and reduce your stress from the moment your plane lands at Istanbul Airport to the terminal exit gate.
Step-1 Leave from aircraft and proceed to the terminal
Your plane landed at Istanbul Airport and you left the plane with your carry-on luggage.
The planes are either connected to the terminal by a bridge, or if your plane is parked outside, the ground handling company will transfer you to the terminal by a shuttle. This was a completely free service.
Step-2 Find your way to passport control
First of all, follow the signs. The Arrivals , Baggage claim or Passport control signs that you will see are a sign that you are walking in the right direction.

Step-3 Passport control & Immigration
You must pass through passport control before proceeding to the baggage claim area. You will present your passport, visa (if required), and any other necessary documents.
If you do not know whether the Republic of Türkiye requires a visa for the country you are a citizen of, we recommend that you check here before your flight.

Step -4 Baggage claim
Once you clear immigration, you will need to collect your checked baggage from the luggage carousel. Wait at the edge of the carousel where your flight number is displayed on the screen. It may take up to 20-30 minutes for the luggage to arrive.
Didn’t see your luggage on the belt? Report your issue and fill out forms at the airport and keep your receipt.

Step -5 Pass customs
Before leaving the baggage claim area, you will need to pass through customs. In most cases, this is just a quick check of your passport and luggage. Staff very rarely check luggage.
Transportation
There are several options for transportation from the airport to the city center, including taxis, metro, buses, and private transfers. Choose the one that best fits your budget and travel needs.
